Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Okay, decided on the ski, now which length...

Buying a pair of Atomic Affinity Pure's for my wife. She is 5'2" (158cm), around 9.5 stone, not an aggressive skier, mainly skis on piste with the odd venture into the softer stuff. The old skis which she learnt on were 146cm Rossi carvers.

The Pures come in 148cm and 154. The 148's she will feel more "at home" in, whereas the 154's will take a little learning I guess. Any suggestions on which of the two to go for? Thanks!!!

It really depends on her style. If she wants to feel more stable at speed then the longer would provide this. 6 cm won't make a huge difference though so I wouldn't worry too much. Myself, I'd vote for the longer, I moved up to head height skis after my first few years and much preferred them. But if she is happier on shorter skis... let her toss a coin wink

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Just to put my 2 penneth in, Im 5'2'' and 8 stone- I prefer to ski on 146 cm (k2 super free). 152 cm are a bit too long/tiring on my legs on initiating turns when Im tired/in heavy snow etc ;o) I assume she's stronger than me so maybe the longer will be better?

Cheers for the input. It is looking like the 148's will be the winner. She really liked her old skis (146) and was comfortable with them, just wanted something a little newer/modern. If they turn out to hinder progress, they can always be sold on in the future.
