Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

New 2013 IATA regs for ABS carriage?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hey guys,

Apologies if this has already been documented, but I am just wondering if there had been many changes to the IATA regs this year. I was told by someone on here to check back in January before I make my trip to the States this week.

I have an ABS Vario and 'am obviously hoping to take it with me to North America. British Airways apparently put notes on both my trip to North America booking and my December booking for Geneva (which went without a hitch). So, I would think it would at least be carried out there without problem. What worries me is that I have a couple of internal flights also.

Cheers

This from the current IATA FAQ pages http://www.iata.org/whatwedo/cargo/dgr/Pages/faq.aspx

Passenger Dangerous Goods
....
I am a sailor / pilot / skier and I want to travel by air with my life vest / parachute / avalanche rescue backpack. Are there any exceptions?
Passengers may carry certain articles even though the article contains dangerous goods. Parachutes themselves are not restricted. Some parachutes are fitted with an automatic activation device (AAD), e.g Cypres, which contain small quantities of explosive material. Most of these are not classified as dangerous goods and are not restricted in passenger baggage.

Avalanche rescue backpacks are authorized if they do not contain more than 200 mg net of explosives in Division 1.4S and / or not more than 250 milliliters of compressed gas in division 2.2.
