the DM start by saying she "climbed" over a 2ft fence
One of the comments was lovely though, saying

the only consolation is that she spent her last days/weeks/months in one of the most wonderful places in the alps, if not the world, and she would have been so so happy! |
hope her family find some comfort in thoughts such as that

Another senseless waste . . . sometimes I sit at this keyboard and just cry at the waste of another young life . . . so fragile.

All the seasonairres were told to call home to reassure frantic parents. The other people involved have come home apparently as they were so traumatised (understandably)

Sadly yet another example of the dangers of mixing alcohol and water.

Not to be pedandtic over such a horrible thing but I wish the press would not keep referring to a "tarp" or "tarpaulin cover", it is actually a, probably 20 to 30mm thick at least, insulated cover that is pulled off a permanent roller at the end of the pool that floats on the pool surface. I would say that if you did swim underneath and lost your bearings then the chances of pushing it up from below would be zero. I think the reason it does not cover the whole pool is that the pool narrows to go from the deeper part to the shallow area.

skitow, in French it's bache, which translates as tarpaulin or canvas cover, but is actually used to mean all sorts of similar cover things. I imagine that's where they've got it from.
Is it really relevant?

Lizzard, guess it explains why you couldn't push it up to take a breath.

It probably was just a silly, bad joke that young people do. But it ended so tragically. |
Sounds like exactly the sort of stupid but fun thing people do all the time after drinking, usually with no consequences. So so tragic to waste a life over something like this.
