Can anyone recommend any skiing jumpers/sweaters/hoodies for spring skiing conditions? Brands or good shops/websites?
I'm off to La Tania on 2nd March and from previous experiences some days a jacket will be too much so I'm looking for what I guess would be a mid layer but something a bit different to a boring fleece etc.
Something like this without the £215 price tag:

Cheers!

Nunfa1, I'me quite liking that. Good colour too.
Bones, I couldn't quite find what you mean have you got a link? Although in my search I found this which looks really good but wow, the price is incredible!

Serriadh, I like the look of that brand.
I have something in my head but I'm not sure if it exists. Something kind of retro, merino wool, maybe with a bit of a neck to it...

Just check your local charity shop for offensive woolies if that's what you want - otherwise a Steelers shirt or baller vest over your tall t will suffice.

Now you say it they did have a snazzy pullover with a racing car on the front in their window the other day! A vest over another top? Nah, maybe when I used to skateboard twenty years ago...

dredgey, would you pack a 'proper' jacket into your rucksack??? I've often wondered what folks in hoodies do on bluebird days that turn into blizzards by lunchtime!!!

Definitely. It would be just my luck that the weather would turn for the worst! I'd keep one or the other in the rucksack and swap depending on the temprature. I skied with a guy one year in March and he decided to go out in just a t-shirt. He got sun stroke!

dredgey, have a look here Its ended, and they came in a wide variety of colours and styles. Some with designs and some plain stripes. But you get the idea.
Often crop up for sale and not for very much - used to retail around £150 in the 1990's IIRC.
There was a thread on here not so long ago that had some details on them

One of my mid layers is a baggy, hooded lumberjack shirt thing. Warm, breathes fine, nice to sit around in when the sun comes out. And you look like a lumberjack. Which is obviously awesome. Well, Monty Python thought so, anyway.

feef, Good find! Cheers mate. Added to my watch list. It's a tad eighties rather than 'retro' but I'll keep it in mind!

Softshell and good layering would seem to be the order of the day, but I'd never go out on a mountain without some form of efficient insulating outer layer, as above, even the sweetest looking mornings can turn into howling afternoons

Agreed, I'd never leave home without my jacket. I'd still have my base layer and mid layer too but I'd really like something to change into during the warmer parts of the day (assuming I get those condition).
I love these but I can't justify the prices:

I like the look of the Totten from Dale, but I'm not going to pay ~£400 for it!

Isn't Cool Skiing Sweater an oxymoron?

Claude B,
Because a sweater keeps you warm or because skiing sweaters are just plain un-cool?

Woolies are way more back in now than that drab technical poo-poo. I used to laugh at those old Everest pioneers climbing in wool plus fours and raw wool polo necks, but if you can hack the tad of extra weight it's all good.
I try not to be a gear snob, but Regatta fleeces kill a small part of the joy of the world
