Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Micro TR - Couloir 263 Alpe D'Huez

Not sure if this is the correct place for these nowadays, anyhow.

Last Friday 25th Jan the strong winds finally eased up so after lunch we headed up to 2800m and turned left onto the ridge which was pretty hard windblown snow.

Poling, side stepping and traversing past the entrances to Couloirs Fleur, Perrins North & South and the Epaule De La Fare we were faced with a final short climb to the entrance avoiding the rather exposed traverse.

The snow was still pretty manky with breakable crust and wind slabs everywhere making for some careful first turns. A little more climbing over some rather exposed and icy stretches and we were in the couloir proper where the snow had started to transform.

Some nice views over Vaujany/Montfrais

A few turns in some nice light powder for the final 300m and we were back on piste above the Stade at Montfrais

A nice way to round off the week but glad to have some local help with wayfinding, quite complex terrain and only one route so not one to get wrong!

pics blocked at work, but looking forward to seeing this at home
that is a nice line, all the better because you can sit on a terrace in Vaujany with a beer and look at it, while boasting to your friends about how rad you are Cool
