Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Fischer Railflex2 FX12 binding adjustment for sole length.

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi All,

I have some Fischer Railflex FX12 bindings which I am adjusting for new boots. The instructions with them are reasonably clear except for the following.

The boots I am fitting have a sole length of 317mm whereas the adjustment strip on the binding is calibrated in 5mm increments. So, should I use the 320mm or 315mm setting on the adjustment strip? Is there a way of setting the binding to a sole length of exactly 317mm?

Thanks

From a previous posting, this link may help:- http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=33942

This is a common method of adjustment on bindings, but IMHO if you are having to ask this question you should not be making this adjustment yourself and take it to a qualified ski tech.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks FraserP,

I did see that thread but am asking the question just to double check as I like to confirm my understanding rather than recklessly making the adjustment and hoping for the best. Unfortunately the instruction manual doesn't mention what to do if the sole length is between increments so logic say's use the 320mm marks on the plastic strip, for a 317 sole length, and then check the forward pressure setting.

That's exactly what i did with the same binding. Forward pressure was within the correct range.
