Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

AFD plate on Marker Barons and boots

Hi,

I have Maker Baron binding and have a question about the afd. I understand this it to let the boot slide out of the binding sideways but was curious about the adjustment. I was going to but new boots maybe a more tour oriented boot something like the scarpa mistrale rs

http://www.scarpa.co.uk/ski/maestrale-rs/

My current alpine boot has a flat sole no grips, so are my barrons able to take this type of boot and does the AFD need some adjustment. At the moment the afd is as far back as it can get almost and I can see the word 'alpine'. Do I need to adjust the AFD for a AT boot?

roscoeh, yes, you need to adjust the toe height to accomodate a vibram soled boot by turning the screw which is directly under the toe binding when looking down the ski from tip to tail.

You'll need a 0.5mm feeler gauge/business card/MaccyD's coffee voucher to do this but you must correctly set the forward pressure first & you must 'lever' the toe of the boot tight up under the toe binding before you test the toe height by pushing the cuff off the boot rearwards towards the tip of the ski.

The Duke/Baron/F12/F10 bindings are very sensitive to the forward pressure/toe height adjustment, especially with a vibram soled boot, so you need to get this right. If you've got any queries call me on the contact number on my website & I'll talk you through it.
