Hi,
Im off the Alp D'heux on Sat and just wondering if its better to get some Euros now or just pull them out of the ATM in resort?
I just remember the other year in Bulgaria it was much better to get them in the resort rather then before or at the airport.
Is it the same with Euros?
I get free withdrawals abroad too.

I've given up pre-ordering and just use my Halifax Clarity (Credit) in resort. They charge you interest as it's a cash advance but that's all and it's always worked out negligible if you pay it off, even waiting for the next bill.

Ouch, got bitten by a cash withdrawl once before but that was back in the days when you paid off the lowest interest balance on your cards first. Saying that Ive had some amazing exchange rates in the US buying things on credit card, got pretty much 3/1 when the usual exchange rate was about 2/1 so I always buy items abroad on a CC but never done cash. Ill probably just use an ATM out there as we're in a catered chalet anyway so there won be anything urgent I need straight away

If you're happy to collect from central London - and take an internet printout/smartphone with you - then you can pretty much get spot rate from ICE and one or two others.

I get enough to last the first day or so until you find your bearings, then just draw out in resort. Get charged a couplem of quid a time, but as we tend to onyl do one or two larger withdrawals over the course of the week, it's negligible. Always got a decent exchange rate too.

I do as jocrad and I have some leftovers from last trip and summer hols to get me through the first couple of days. I also have a credit card that doesn't charge for withdrawals abroad.
