Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi Snowheads, have just booked a last minute flight to geneva and I am looking for Gite type accomodation or a room in a house anywhere from Sallanche to La Tour. Have found a few on line but all seem to be dormitory style and whilst I don't mind sharing, in my forties I prefer a single room in a quite house. I know the area pretty well and there are lots of options and chances are I will find something but would prefer to go on a recommendation. Thanks in advance.

PP, Ibis Sallanches has a room available €78 a night, for those dates, but the website says that's the last room available at that price. Might be useful if you can't find anything closer - but you will probably get some good suggestions here, as it's still low season.

PP, we're just back from Argentiere and stayed at La Couronne - I had a single room (double bed, en-suite, wifi) that was €56 a night plus breakfast. Comfy, warm and across the road from The Office. Sylvia on reception's a star.

Thank you all. Vagabond would have been great 20 years ago. sah, great deal but that would work at £125 per night for me (as i am on me tot ) so a bit too expensive for a quick hit and run type trip. La Couronne looks just the spot to get a good nights rest.

Ah, sorry, didn't appreciate it was just for one, In that case Couronne is a good bet. Also might be worth trying some of the small chalet companies, they can be very flexible for last minute bookings if they have a room and offer good rates - I stayed in Argentiere with Valley Fever last season for a few days; very comfortable and great food too. Can't recall the exact price but it was on a par with the Couronne but with dinner included.
EDIT - sorry, scratch that, I just checked that site and they are fully booked. Others may be available though.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Another vote for La Couronne. I stayed in August and it was very nice... clean, nice room, helpful staff, wifi.
