Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Zermatt to Monterosa

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi there,

Looking to get from Zermatt to either Champoluc or Gressoney in the Monterosa region of the Aosta valley, Italy in the next few weeks. Travelling with luggage, so train/bus ideally as not driving. The distance as the crow flies seems about 30km but I realise there are some rather large mountains in between...

Is this transfer even feasible/manageable? Advice badly needed Puzzled

You will need to confirm the details but take the train from Zermatt to Brig, train from Brig to Milan ( I think Malpensa Airport would be best) and then shuttle bus service to the Monterosa ski resorts. The journey from Zermatt to Milan is four hours or so. We have done the direct route in summer but not with luggage...... Very Happy

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I'd also look at a train to Chamonix, bus through the tunnel to Aosta, (may need to change in Courmayeur), then bus to Gressoney. There'd be a lot of changing, a car would be a lot easier Happy

Given the length of the journey otherwise that is not a bad idea, depending on numbers.

Lift upto the top of Zermatt, ski down to Cervinia with luggage on a sledge. Get bus from there. Or get a helicopter.

I guess Gressoney is probablty double the distance to the Monte Rosa flight so could be ~ 400 Sfr

I have skied from Zermatt to Gressonay in about two hours from the top of the system. No glaciers involved.

Thanks jbob, presume that's off piste ? We’re not really at that level I'm afraid, humble lower intermediates here. Plus probably difficult to do with our luggage!
