Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Whitedot ski review - the fearsome and the awesome!

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
So finally got my new skis mounted up after waiting for my new boots to get sorted and took them out for a spin...

So starting with the fearsome. Ragnoroks.
Conditions really not optimal, a mix of hard and good pistes, and crusty to chalky off-piste with a mix of sun softened bumps, but determined to try them out anyway
Was skiing with the Dave Murray Camp so started off doing some exercise on them first up, was a little hard work since they are super stiff so really only want to go fast and without a lot of sidecut means you have to really work to bend them into tighter turns.
Onto some off piste stuff - blast through the crappy stuff with ease but being quite firm (skis and snow!) they gave me a real beating. Finally figured out that the way to ski them was to really work them hard, when they worked very well, but I'm not in good enough shape to ski like that all day! Madeye-Smiley
Not quite sure what the ideal conditions for these skis are yet, but will try them out again when the conditions change. Only problem with that is...

Redeemer Carbonlites.
So I've had normal Redeemers for a couple of seasons and absolutely love them. The carbonlites fix everything I didn't quite like about them. They are _noticably_ light as the name implies which makes them even easier to ski hard all day, but also the flex is better when really blasting (on or off piste), and they have more energy which is great.
Got to go now and ski on them some more after which I'll add some more thoughts, but for now I'll just say they are simply awesome - I keep telling my son not to get all N. American/ Kung-fu Panda and use "awesome", but it's quite appropriate here! snowHead

stuarth, to paraphrase a comment from Eva Walkner "you must have huge balls down to your knees!" to ride the Ragnoroks. The Redeemer Carbonlites sound great.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

So carbonlight flex - stiffer?

stuarth, what bindings have you got on the CarbonLites? I mounted mine with Dynafits and will be taking them for a spin this weekend.

Not quite sure whether it is necessarily stiffer, but it does seem more progressive and much more stable when really gunning it and carving up the hard stuff (previous redeemers seemed a little unstable to me at high speed due to the rockered tip flapping a bit and possibly upsetting the balance - not really a critism as such since that was not really what they were made for, just something the carbonlite fixes nicely to make them even more versatile). Also seems to have more energy out of the turn. Still retains it's friendliness off the groomer and in the bumps yet really confident in absolutely hammering them in some pretty challenging off-piste conditions too.
Oh and did I say they are light! Madeye-Smiley

..and I haven't even had them in any real pow yet snowHead

Easy peasy, as long as I don't have to clip into them.
