I've just got a splitboard this season (a Jones Solution - mainly because it's the shame shape as my Jones Flagship, which I know and love). However, having spent a few days in La Grave in the past (and hoping to be there this year) I wouldn't say it's somewhere that you'd really need it. Of course, that may be because I don't know enough of the less accessible lines, but there's certainly plenty of fun to be had on fully lift-served descents. The most annoying thing is traversing back to the mid-station when the snow's not so good lower down (the traverse is usually icy and moguled), but a splitboard isn't going to help with that.
If you do get one, look at Karakoram bindings. I've not used mine yet, but I'm really impressed with the stiffness they provide. They make other binding systems look very primitive.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?
