GB and part of France seem to have school vacation this week. Will it be crowded?

chraya, I've been every Easter (or just before if that is when school hols start) for the past 7 years to Les Deux Alpes and it's never been particularly busy. I'll be there that week again and I'm confident it will be about the same. I can't imagine other resorts will be much different.

Just pick a resort that British TOs don't go to - the majority of French people have given up skiing by April.

Are you sure there are French schools on holiday then? I didn't think there were. Usually it is Belgian holidays at that time.

chraya, as pam w says, no. It won't be empty pistes but not busy. We generally ski early to mid-April but sadly not this year due to exams.

I went to Courchevel one Easter at about that time. I feared the worse but the queues were largely non-existent

Skied les arcs last 5 Easters. Never found it particularly busy

In a year like this, when Easter is early, it's a better bet for a family holiday than half term or New Year. Cheaper, far less crowded. Early April will - on average - have better snow than Christmas.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Lovely time to go, it'll be fine.

Been to Espace Killy twice at Easter and the slopes have not been crowded, Verbier at Christmas on the other hand.....

You know it makes sense.

British TOs hike prices at Easter because it's school hols - and flights are expensive. But it's low season prices for accommodation in France so if you drive it can be a cheap holiday. Well, as cheap as skiing ever is.

As most of the others have said, no it's usually fine. The exception was Les Arcs 2 years ago when it was particularly hot, after a relatively poor snow year, meant the lower slopes had disappeared so everyone piled up high and some lifts were particularly busy at some points of the day.

If you can go to a resort not favoured by British TOs it will be significant quieter. French sports shops will be full of mountain bikes and tents by then.

Our resort has plenty of accommodation available for that week, as pam w, mentions, the resorts without a major British tour operator will be quieter and prices at low season rates.
It is usually quiet at Easter, especially in comparison to the other school holiday periods, the snow should still be in good condition this Easter as it is so early.
