Poster: A snowHead

I've got a day (Fri 25th Jan) spare after meetings, to hit the slopes. I'll be in both Vancouver and Fort Langley (about 45Km east). Besides Whistler, are there other local slopes worth going to? As it's just one day, convenience of getting to the slope is paramount over size, terrain etc. What other options have I got?

google is my friend. Looks as if I have Mt Seymour, Cypress and Grouse mountain. Any ideas which of these three are the best to go to?

Cypress. (Still small, but bigger than the other two)

Baker - south from Abbotsford (fairly relaxed border crossing)- world class.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

For a day, I'd not personally muck with the border.
In the city, Grouse is easy for public transport. Cypress is bigger, both can be wet.
If you're east, then Hemlock is the place, although *please* don't tell anyone about it as it's secret. You will need a vehicle with chains or 4wd to get there though. Fresh tracks on piste all day, and no package tourists or crowds.

I think Cypress fits the bill as it will be the easiest to get to. Hmm, but as I'll possibly be in Fort Langley, I'm kind of on route to Hemlock. Guess I can make the call depending on conditions at each nearer the time.

Hemlock is a very good call , especially if you are in Langley. However, I'd be seriously tempted to chance the border queue on a weekday and hit Baker. If you are already out east that's probably going to be under an hour's drive for you and it's a much bigger place than Hemlock (although I confess I only skied Hemlock once and it was many years ago).
I have to admit I never bothered with the "local" hills, even just for a day trip I went to Whistler from Vancouver. From what my friends told me I was not missing much, most of the time they went to Whistler too [although owning a season pass to Whistler may have had something to do with that].

just realised I can buy a bus + lift pass to Whistler from downtown Vancouver. That probably will give the easiest option so no need for a car and all the pluses pf a big resort.

Grouse mountain is a short bus ride from the centre of Vancouver as far as I remember. I went there in my spare time on a business trip.

It is. Also easy to get to Whistler with various bus companies.
