Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Meribel - Query about Pass Office and Group Discounts

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
All

I'm not about to ask "3V or Local" so please bear with me!

I have searched the forum and can't find my specific question answered...

I am off to Meribel in a couple of weeks... usually i buy my lift pass online as it is easier and often cheaper.

The Meribel lift pass office offers a discount if you buy more than three.

So.... my options are....

1. Buy from the TO at a cost of £213 each
2. Buy online at a cost of €245 (which factoring in bank charges works out at approx £207 i think - £201 lift pass and £6 charge)
3. Buy in resort

My questions for Snowheads are these:

1. Does anyone know what time (ish) the lift pass office close in the evening should we decide to buy in resort on the Sunday (arrival) night
2. Is the discounted €245 Euro Group pass available if purchased in resort or only if purchased online?

My current thinking is to just buy in resort on arrival night as (at £201) that is the cheapest option... but if the pass office closes early or the group discount isn't available, then I'll order online and let my bank rip me off.

Thanks in advance... grateful for any help.

The 'Tribu' discount should be available at the lift pass office, not just online.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

magic_hat, my view is buy in advance. My reasoning...

If you plan to go back at any stage you have a pass you can top up online.
If you want to add to your pass (extra day, extra valley) you can do so online in minutes.
If you arrive late and the office and machines are closed you have your pass ready for the morning so can get the first lift up.
You don't have to queue to buy a pass which on the first day can be a pain.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

ansta1, All very good points and i am swinging round that way as well.

My flight time and transfer time don't leave much margin for getting there before 5pm... meaning any delay at all (or a large queue) will mean I am queuing in the morning!

Or your accommodation could be a loooong walk from la chaudanne (main lift pass office) and you're probably too later for the pass office in the centre near the office du tourism (and escalator)

Been there done that got the t-shirt. Nowadays I just top up online and it's worked fine for the last couple of years. I do make sure I take 2x copies of the receipts though, one to leave in the appartment and one that goes with the lift-pass - so if it doesn't work on day 1, or when I drop into Les Menuires, I can then go to the office and argue the toss.

We've booked our passes online, and we have to pick them up when we arrive (this saturday) from the tourist information office.

We are staying in La plateau and we aim to arrvie in the resort at 2 / 3 ish. Any ideas what time the office is open till? And is it the one in the centre of town?

Cheers
