Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Oberstdorf

Does anyone have any experience of Oberstdorf inGermany. We have flights to Memmingen and have previously skied in Garmisch, but Obertsdorf might make a pleasant change. Is there any nightlife at all? Not looking for clubbing, but a lively bar that doesn't close at 10 pm would suit. Is there enough skiing for 4 days?

I went to Oberstdorf many (10 ish) years ago. I would say there's plenty of skiing for 4 days but couldn't comment on the night life as we were staying approx 30 mins away.

Ottoline, I hail from Oberstdorf ( well the wife does ). There are two main ski areas, Fellhorn and Nebelhorn. Fellhorn is the bigger of the two and goes between the German area in Oberstdorf and Austria in Kleinwalsertal. Nebelhorn is smaller, but well worth the visit. No problems with staying occupied for 4 days, especially as Kleinwalsertal has a number of other ski areas to explore.
It's a scenically very beautiful area. Oberstdorf is a nice town. There are definitely bars, including an Irish bar, which would keep you happy for the duration.
If you like Garmisch then you will almost certainly also like Oberstdorf.

As Steilhang says, there is an Irish bar, but there are plenty of other options. There's a very good bierkeller opposite the station, and a busy tented après bar beside one of the main hotels near there. Easy to get there by train from Memmingen.
