Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Off to Sion at end of jan and wondered if any of you have advice on:-

a bestway to get into verbier 4 valleys area ( have car if that helps)
b any good local rest or bars
c best place to rent skis for some of the group
d any other local tips

a) Haute Nendaz by car or by bus
b) Jeez -- so many you'll find the best in an hour
c) ?? - in resort or Sion .. Nendaz has the luxury of ski lockers so that may sway your choice
d) You're in Switzerland -- dont worry about money.

limey off piste, I'm jealous. Want to go back to Crans, where I spent many weeks of my childhood. One of my earliest childhood memories is of the most spectacular son et lumiere in Sion - between the two castles. (At least I think there were two castles, it's a long time ago!)

But I don't know the answers to your questions, sorry.

limey off piste, a) Siviez, drive there and park, fastest way into 4 vallees. Not sure about the others.

limey off piste, a) Veysonnaz ....only 20 mins from Sion
b) Plenty, especially in the mountains, Les Chottes, Cambuse, Matze etc etc
c) Neige Aventure (they also have ski lockers)
d) The skiing is great and you're linked to all the 4 Vallees 'satellites', good skiing over to Verbier. Le Caboulis is one of the best mountain
restaurants ever. Avoid Siviez at peak times....you'll have to park miles down the road.

Pedantica, You're right about the castles....Tourbillon and Valere... they are beautiful and brilliantly lit ATM (nightime) Crans is still lovely though.
