Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Pretty new but can't seem to find an existing thread on this - I'm looking to buy my first pair of boots, there seems to be a lot of talk about custom liners and insoles and I'm curious - If I only choose to get one which should i preference - liner or insole? Thanks in advance!

Wait and see what your bootfitter says.

Having said that I went for liners and footbeds, at the same time, in an old pair of boots a few years ago.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

very unlikely you will need liners but you will benefit from custom insoles.

most important part is a good bootfitter

awachsmann,

First you need to go to a good boot fitter. Tell us where do you live and others on this forum may be able to recommend a good boot fitter in your area.

Most new ski boots have a mouldable inner liner. The liner is heated and then the boot is put on your feet and the clips fastened. The liner moulds to the shape of your foot as it cools down to give a "custom" fit.

Insoles, footbed or orthotics (they are all the same thing) that come with ski boots can't be moulded to fit the soles of your feet. You can get moulded insoles for about £70 in a good ski boot shop.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks - I live in London. Any advice would be great I find that every time I rent boots I end up switching them a couple of times because of comfort/fit issues (instructors have actually commented on poor fitting boots). I'm looking for guidance on what boots I should be buying and someone that can customise them somewhat if necessary. Any ideas who to see in London?

I live in NW London and work in the West End - I don't mind travelling in order to find a good place but would rather London based.

there's Ski Bartlett in uxbridge or Pro Feet in Fulham
if you can get yourself up the M40 to Bicester, then solutions4feet have many fans on here

just be aware you will have to book a fitting and weekends may be full.

also forget about what you want, let the fitter tell you
