hi there, need some help!!!!!!!!! I have just bought some salomon elipse 9 boots expecting these to fit right but they dont, i have a wide foot and most boots make my little toe go numb within 5 mins, my new boots take about half an hour and feel much better, so a bit better. the problem now is that the boots in lengh fit right, but when i lock them my ankle can lift up about a 2cm. and i have big calfs so if i go to tight my whole leg goes numb. So i was wondering if there was anything i could buy or do that will make my ankle more secure, or if a boot fitter would be able to do something with them. and would a foot bed improve the numbness of my little toe.
thankyou.

Sounds like you're chasing a lost cause, can you get to Lockwoods in Leamington Spa? Maybe far away but may save you time in the long run. Alternativley, Easy-Jet, Chamonix, SmallZoo, Beer, New Boots, Skiing, Smiling, Back to the point of sale, Anger.
The Eclipse in one of the narrower of entry level boots(SUBJECTIVE), however, yet again i think the problem may lie with you tendon stucture. AAAGGGHH, i so want to help but, I NEED YOUR FEET!!!

Probably better than a picture of your mum, however i need to see the mobility of you foot and its range of motion. Have you ever shaken someone's hand? They all feel different, right?

clamy ones are the worst!!!!!!!!! its just that if i show you a picture you can see if my foot does go out a bit to much and abnormal sas my wife calls it!!! and with my heal lifting out, i know its not the right solution but i turned my sock over on my heal so it was twice has thick there, and it stoped it lifting.
its when my foot is pushed on a flat floor it goes alot wider near my little toe, so maybe a foot bed would help this, or not

I have a similar problem with where you are pointing. A guy in a ski shop in Verbier told me this was my "6th toe". I have Ellipse 9's and had the outers heated and pushed out in that area (a few times actually). I now don't have too much trouble with them, although this could also be due to the fact that I previously always had them too tight and used to skid turns more (which puts more pressure on the feet I think, partucularly on hard steep snow).
Go to Profeet in London. They have a very good reputation.

conor, it's sometimes also called the 'fifth metatarsal head'.

markzedd, I have broad feet which are similarly shaped to you. Always had trouble with boots, and although stretching the shell around that part of my foot has helped it never completely solved the problem. Last season I visited Profeet for a new pair of boots and they suggested a pair of Nordica Beast 12 (this season called Speedmachine 12 ?) as they were very broad in the forefoot area. The boots were stretched a bit to accommodate the width of my foot, and I had custom footbeds made which helped support my foot and keep it in shape. These are the most comfortable boots I've ever had: no crippling pressure points, just a good tight fit all around my foot.

Sometimes dosn't apply. It is the fifth metatarsal head. Be careful here. Get the shell stretched around the problem and wear footbeds. The problem could get worse if you dont get the boot worked on, get it stretched and don't wear the boots for a couple of weeks, the swelling will hopefully then have gone down before your body starts to deposit bone dust there.

Zookeeper is dead right. I had exactly that problem in a pair of Langes (through the season of 1974-5) and it left a permanent growth of the bone there. The problem is that it builds on itself - the more the bone grows out, the more the pressure. Eventually it can result in a wound.
Definitely get the boot shells blown out.

cheers for that. will ellis brigham be able to do that. if they can which is the best one to go to i live near manchester, but it doest take me long to get to liverpool or the one at xscape in castleford. and how much do they normally charge for something like that.
also the picture of my foot is when its normall it might look like theres swelling but that is how it normally looks. when ive had my boots on it goes red down the side where the arrow is and my little toe goes numb.

Personally I wouldn't trust EB with something like this - not sure if they blow out shells either. If you can, I would recommend to book a visit to Profeet and have a day out in London

I have roughly this problem and had EB in Covent Garden do the work on the boot (I work opposite and needed it done in a rush prior to last season). The tool they use for blowing the boot out is a bit of a blunt instrument and I would not look to repeat the experience. I'd be looking to get it done somewhere else.

markzedd, I would have thought with your problems you really need to go to a foot specialist. There have been lots of recommendations on this forum for Profeet - a quick search on here will bring them up. Here's one I found earlier I think you will find it well worth your while making the trip down. I can't recall any particular recommendations as high as for profeet, for somewhere in the NW.
