Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Wife concerned about my off Piste Skiing decides to make me safer after watching you tube

Brill present from my Wife Sally this morning (non Skier). After seeing loads of avalanches on you tube and and seeing the hi tech eqipment used to combat the risk she decided she could easily make me a safety package, far cheaper and better than that commercially available

Firstly she though my transceiver was outdated and could be bettered by having an active device that signals to everyone, even if not wearing a beeper

Set it for 5 mins, stop it when you get to bottom, if you are taken then it will ring under the snow and rescuers will hear it

The she decided she could do Airbags far cheaper and smaller/lighter

Then a device to slow the rapid drop to the bottom of the valley

Cheap Avalung

Flare Gun and signalling lamp

Lastly a great idea, Snowpoles for attracting atention from under the snow

Had to have a big laugh at that, hey and the avalung may even work if you stick the big end under your arm inside your coat!

Morning was made even better by the next present

How did Santa know thats exactly what I wanted Laughing

Hi,

I would be really grateful for some feedback on the Mammut rocker RAS backpack.
Looking to spend my Christmas money on an airbag for the coming season.
The Mammut rocker RAS looks to be about the best value and one of the lightest bags out there, but I am, struggling to find any info or reviews on it.
If you have seen or used any of the other bags from ABS or Snowpulse I would be interested to know how the Mammut compares in terms of quality, materials, construction etc.
Is it a chunk lighter and cheaper than the equivalent snowpulse 15l pro-rider because it is made of lighter weight materials and fabric, that if being used by say a guide daily would not last long, but would be fine for the general skiing public using it for 2 weeks a year?

Cheers

Phil
