Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Verbier: Intrawest development is signed

My local source (estate agent) tells me that the long discussed agreement has been signed.
Intrawest will build at Bruson and a condition of this is a road is kept open year round and that Televerbier build a cable car from the base station at Le Chable up to Bruson.
The next stage is the formal planning applications.
3-5 years until done according to the estate agent.

Happy days for me...our new shack (see "What have we forgotten" in Chalets and Appartments) is 5 mins walk away from the cable car station in Le Chable.

Nothing officially released by Intrawest on that, so it'll be interesting to see how soon they make an announcement.

The company has, however, had a senior resignation. Their official statement here:

Reported independently here:
The Globe and Mail, Canada.

I heard it too last weekend when drinking in Verbier and Le Chable. Many happy faces amongst the bar owners down there. Will be interesting to see if they run the lift later than the current 1800ish closing time, and whether any of the residents of Chez Intrawest spend money outside the confines of their compound.

I understand that there are no new lift installations planned in Bruson other than the new link to La Cot. It appears therefore that the residents of Chez Intrawest will spend most of their time on the Verbier side. I wouldn't want to see Bruson lose too much of it's unique character.

It's in the valley at 1080m. This map shows it. Zoom and shift to the right of the map.

I've just heard the Bruson development is currently on hold, after a complaint from the World Wildlife Foundation regarding the plans. Does anyone know where I can see a copy of the plans? I can't find anything on the Intrawest site.

gohuwgo, Don't have any plans but heard the same regarding the WWF "causing delays" from an Intrawest employee when I was in Arc 1950 at the beginning of the month.

I had also heard that Intrawest had indicated that if they don't get a resolution this year they will withdraw. There is though more rumour and speculation around this issue in the Val de Bagnes than there are moguls in Tortin.

As far as I know (being a "local" foreigner) it is cancelled. Intrawest pulled out, combination of WWF and Foreigner Permit issues.

Thanks for your feedback - really useful. I will be up in resort over the weekend, and I'll see what I can find out about this development (or no development!)
