Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Andorra - Grandvilara

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi All

My wife and I are Three Valley lovers but have been fancying somewhere else this February. We wanted to get opinions for snowboarding in Grandvilara, Andorra. We are both intermediate boarders. Any feedback (especially on typical conditions in feb) would be appreciated.

Thanks

Having skied Grandvilara twice I can tell you the ski area and lift system is excellent never had any problems with queuing. In terms of snowboarding the majority of runs are wide open blue's and red's and not particularly steep there are a few places where boarder often have to do a bit of pushing. If you are mostly black route boarders you will relatively quickly exhaust the more challenging routes.
The three valleys is really on a completely different level to grandvilara there's not really much of a comparison.
In terms of conditions both times I have been are early feb and the conditions have been great obviously there is not as much altitude as the three valleys and averagely it does receive less snowfall but they are really excellent at keeping the piste's in good condition. If your up for something different grandvilara is fine and you will no doubt have a good time but if your used to the three valleys you will find it a bit lacking.

As above, it wouldn't be a surprise if you found Grandvilara rather samey after 2/3 days.

Perhaps you would be more at home in another more expansive domain, Paradiski, Portes du soleil, Espace Killy, Arlberg to name a few.

It all depends on what type of skier you both are really snowHead

Grandvalira has 210km, so half of some of the huge areas, but still a lot to go at. For an idea of last February there's a YouTube video here:

There´s another ski area, consisting of 3 interlinked valleys, about 100 kms to the NE of Val Thorens.
Lifts go up to over 3200 m height.
Beautiful area with modern lifts, long and quiet slopes, beautiful surroundings with mountains up to 4600 m.
