Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Israeli manufacturer promises snow at 'all ambient temperatures'

An Israeli company specialising in water treatment and desalination has come up with a process to make snow using the 'vacuum evaporation' of water.

The equipment, produced by IDE Technologies, is based on their Vacuum Ice Machine. The new process, which they call the All Weather Snowmaker, is designed to make snow at "all ambient temperatures" (i.e. all air temperatures).

This report from Ropeways.net.

More information on the IDE Technologies site: http://www.ide-tech.com

--------------------------------------------------------
On the surface this looks very interesting, though the process may not be quite as energy efficient as the manufacturers claim. Existing methods for making snow at 'over-zero' air temperatures include super-freezing an air-water mix with liquid nitrogen - so-called 'cryogenic' snowmaking - to achieve this. I have a video of snow being made at Ayers Rock in Australia in the 1980s, in scorching air temperatures, using cryogenics.

Any comments?

Well I could say, "cool" Shocked

However the power requirements look pretty high and the structures required are much larger than conventional snow cannon, the smallest unit is some 2.7M in diameter and 6M high which produces 170 cubic meters of snow per day but needing 1139Kwh or using about 47.5 Kw per hour which is a lot of power

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

How does that compare with conventional snow making ?

We are having an outdoor ice rink in Chester this Christmas / January, it sounds great but can’t help but think it’s going to be a bit slushy!
