Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

No Brits at the xc World Cup this weekend (partly due to cost as at £5k a world cup the team has to prioritise which races they do), but members of the team were racing in both Norway and Sweden last weekend (1st weekend in december) and they put in some good performances. At Idre Sarah Hale competed in the youth women’s race (17- 18yrs) and finished 3rd in the prologue, Her semi-final was very aggressive and collisions with other competitors meant a spot in the B-final, which she won. She said the B-final finally felt like how she had wanted to ski the whole race. She finished 23rd overall (including seniors) with 210 FIS points.

Sarah Young flew the prologue “My skis were so fast I didn’t have time to hurt”, qualifying for the heats in 7th position. She finished third in her quarter final, after a little argy-bargy at the start, unfortunately missing out on a lucky loser place into the semis. She scored her season's best of 154 FIS points.

Alex Standen had a prime prologue, finishing in a gutting 33rd position, only 7.85 seconds off the winner and a whisker's length of 0.6 seconds off qualifying for the heats, once again highlighting the depth of men’s field.

Sunday’s race was a 5km classic time trial for women and 10km for men. The temperatures plummeted overnight and Sunday was a bright and clear -170C. This was Fiona Hughes’ first race of the season, having just finished term at university on Wednesday. Fi finished in 8th place and scored 119 FIS points which qualifies Fi to race world cups. Sarah Young found breathing the cold air a little tough, but finished in 16th place and scored 180 FIS points. Alex also found the cold difficult, but felt the race went pretty well. He finished in 45th place with 134 FIS points.

The two Andrews were racing Norwegian cup races in Gaalaa, but due to the excessive cold the distance races were cancelled and only Saturday’s sprints went ahead. Team Viedekke (the Norwegian team who Andrew Musgrave skis with) kindly agreed to wax Andrew Young's skis along with Andrew Musgrave's and, as at Gallivare, the two had good skis for the competition. Almost identical skis it turned out - Muzzy skied the course in 3:44.5 while AY was just 0.2 seconds slower. This put them both well up the high quality field in 11th and 12th respectively. Unfortunately neither managed to progress from their qtr finals, both started strongly but faded in the finish. The results have not been published on the FIS site yet, but informal calcs suggest both should have scored mid 60s FIS points, which, if confirmed would be AY’s best sprint result.
