Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Backpack that isn't going to break my ribs!

Poster: A snowHead
Looking to find a day sack to ski on piste with. Doesn't need to be big (5-10L), I only want to carry goggles, spare gloves, lunch and a water bottle. Last year I just used a map pocket and ditched water bottle and spare gloves.

However in the past I've had sacks that have bruised and broken my ribs during heavy falls on hard piste. The shoulder adjustment buckle is the culprit as the force of impact has pushed the buckle into my ribs.

Anyone recommend a sack that has shoulder buckles tucked away from the ribs???

Obviously I could just not fall over.. but I'm still working on that one! Laughing

I think you are probably going to have to go to some shops and try a few on, as the buckle placement will be quite specific to each person?

EDIT: I like my Stash OB which fits avi gear + a few extras (just) but is super low profile and flat so is good for chair lifts too.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Wear a transceiver and carry a compact camera in a chest pocket. It won't answer your question but it will put rib damage from a poxy buckle into perspective wink

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

What about the following :

goggles : on your face
spare gloves : one glove in each pocket of your jacket : left glove, left pocket and right glove, right pocket
water bottle : forget about bottle, go for another soft container : strapped insulated hydration pouch (3 or 2L, brands : source, camelback and the likes). You carry it on your back, between the fleece and the shell so as it does not freeze. If you are a fashionista then , unfortunately, the colors might clash with your usual skioutfit : OD green, woodland camo, acu, marpat... You might find black or even blue/silver.
Lunch : in the spare room you have in the same pockets where you have the gloves. Inner pocket for energey bars. Ski pass sleeve pocket or, if you wear a bib, the front chest pocket for sugar lumps and dried fruits. Main side pockets for sandwich.
