I'm thinking about spending a season skiing in the Alps. Has anyone got any tips on where to look for decent long term accommodation? Is it possible to get below market rates (which are of course rather high) if you book for, say, three months? Studio-style rather than a room-in-a-flat style is what I'm after. Any ideas or sites you know of would be greatly appreciated!

Another vote here for Marcellus at livetheseason - he was great and very helpful finding me a place. As it turned out I found a slightly better option privately, but that was a bit random - Marcellus was v professional and I'll be speaking to him for next winter

We rented a whole chalet by just approaching loads of local estate agents in the resorts we were interested in. I then went out and viewed a shortlist. However that was in the September before the season started. This season we have somewhere for 7 weeks (26th Dec to 15th Feb) via a local agent.
I wonder whether, if you try now, you may be a little late to find anywhere with a clear 3 months-half terms will be gone, as will New year.

If in France contact the local tourist office for their list of owners, and also visit leboncoin.fr - both of these will avoid you paying agency fees.
