Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Volkl 5 Stars vs. Others

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I am 5' 11' and about 150 pounds and 16 years old, I have been skiing for over 10 years now and ski all over the mountain, on and off piste. I ski a lot of bumps and glades, but also corduroy once in a while. I consider my self an advanced-expert skiier. I am trying to decide between the volkl 2005-2006 5 stars and some of the all mountain solomon skis, like the scrambler hot (all this years models) Any opinions on these skis? Also, if anyone could point me towards any reviews of these skis or reccomend any others that would be great. Thanks,
Will

Where do you ski? If you ski off-piste where there's alot of powder, I would have thought the 5 stars would be too narrow.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

If you're an advances skier why not go for the top of the range Volkl - the Supersport? Also try the Rossi Z9s, they are getting fantastic reviews this season.

Buying a Ski-cross ski? Can't go wrong with Volkl, in fact can't go wrong with Volkl, FULL STOP. Can't be lazy though, hangover friendly they are not. Twisted Evil

SMALLZOOKEEPER, Agree with that comment, since buying some 5* 2 yrs ago, big grin when carving up the piste's. Even looked at other alternatives for this year at the recent Ski test at Castleford, but would still stick with the Volkl.

Sorry, i forgot to mention that i ski in the east (mad river valley area) and theres not enough powder to warrant getting real thick skis. The reason im not looking at the 6 star and all star is because ski magazine reviews said that they were both more for speed, not good for moguls and woods. Is the 5 star a good call? thanks for any reply

I have 5* & love 'em ! (4 weeks) Fantastic on piste. Used successfully off piste in heavy snow, but may be a little narrow in other conditions.
I tried several types of ski at the Castleford test and loved the Head XRC 1400. Laughing

wlssox524, I had a great time on them! But I wouldn't consider a couple of hours in a snowdome as a good test - I'm heavier than you but only have ~7 weeks on snow - so not as experienced.
