Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I'd buy boots first. As you're going to be in resort for the season, then make the most of that and try out a few different skis and see what suits both you, and the terrain you ski. Ski shops in resort will often have demo skis, or at least 'premium' rentals which will let you try different ones. I'm sure, if you're there for a few months, you'll get to know the folks anyway.

If it were me, I'd use it as an opportunity to try as many different skis as possible, rather than rushing to buy one pair.

what feef said + if you are going to be there for the season, the deals are always at the end. If you are working, sus out the seasonaire discounts - if any - first rather than diving in. If not see if you can snag an end of season job to get you into the fold just long enough to qualify. Base is already in - have a good one!

guytz, also on the road down from el tarter on right there is a huge "ski supermarket" with loads and loads of interesting goodies in it, mostly last seasons stuff, no idea if its still there. (There is also a cheap booze supermarket just before it across the road on the left.)
