Three excellent days in Selva and around the dolomites - mostly bluebird skies and cold, soft, grippy snow. Done the Sella Ronda both ways with some very nice diversions into colfosco, arabba and corvara also got up to seceda. Clouding over now and some snow expected overnight and tomorrow so looking forward to a few cm of fresh through the weekend.

How does it look for Easter? Do you reckon there will be enough snow?

Snowisawesome, if you ask me after the 10 Mar, then I will let you know what conditions look like on my return.
But there's always enough snow at Easter, it just depends on whether it is in the right place(s)

Leaving Arabba tomorrow (sat).
There is absolutely stacks of snow here. It has been very cold for at least 7days so
the snow stayed lovely. It's snowed on and off for the last three days and is snowing now.
Got some amazing deep powder off the Arabba chair today at relatively low altitude.

Leaving today after an excellent week of mostly sunshine. Anyone just arriving is going to have a ball next week as it's absolutely dumping down at the moment - easily a foot overnight and still going and that's at village level in Selva!

Got here yesterday and it started snowing last night and all through today and is still snowing. At times its been quite heavy bit not too cold at least when not on a chair above the tree line. Had a private lesson today and was off piste. Waist deep in places in the Pralongia area above Corvara. Pistes very quiet, even for here. Sella Ronda was shut all day and road from Arabba to Canazei is closed. They were dynamiting the Portavescovo mountain this morning briefly due to snow.
Anyone coming next week will be fine as it seems quite cold at night, so nice and crisp etc

Light snow in Arabba all day today. Early start to Canazei and then onto a tour of Alba, Pozza and Vigo di Fassa today. Snow is fantastic even in the lower resorts. Broken cloud over there so visibility much better. First time over there in 6 consecutive Arabba trips. Lovely tree lined runs. Finished the day on the black into Arabba as we can ski off the side to the hotel. Always seems steep but was full of soft snow moguls, so legs aching a little but welcome reminder to practise good technique

Very cold this morning with fairly low cloud cover. Cloud started to clear at lunch and was sunny all afternoon. Snow fine still and -2 at 7pm this evening, according to the time and temperature display outside the SportHotel. At for 9am this morning for a 4 hour lesson today with our friend at the Arabba ski school. We went over to Alta Badia and down to La Villa and the Gran Risa. Snow levels and conditions even in La Villa were brilliant. On our return our friend took us off piste through the woods above Passo Campolongo. We are rubbish at off piste but it was great fun dropping through the trees across small roads and then back into the trees. We finished up by dropping down right on top of the road about 200m up from the normal crossing at Passo Campolongo.
If the weather is fine tomorrow then we are going to try the Grande Guerra tour, taking in the Serrai canyon at Malga Ciapela.
I think the forecast is for more Sun but still low temps, especially at night so no worries for next week unless I guess you want fresh powder.

Warmer today and 2C at 7pm tonight. Been on the Grande Guerra tour via Malga Ciapela, Sottoguda, Alleghe, Civetta, Pescul, Fedare, Cinque Torri, Lagazuoi, Hidden Valley and back through Alta Badia to Arabba. Overcast in most places and reasonably cold but warm in the Sun. Snow brilliant and only found softer snow on return to Arabba which must have seen more Sun today. Roads now clear due to some thawing but don't worry the slopes are still excellent with off piste still available at the moment.

nickH, Yes Sue said she might get out here towards the end of the season. It's an earlier finish this year due to the early Easter. They always finish the same time after Easter regardless of whether there is still snow cover. Planning on meeting with her in the UK as we were coming too early for her to Arabba.

Cooler day today due to cloud and hardly any Sun. Been to Santa Croce and snow excellent over in Pedraces. Pistes a bit busier but quiet off the Sella Ronda. Often had large sections of piste to ourselves. Did the Gran Risa again today. Love that run and the snow condition made for easy skiing. 1C tonight at 7pm in Arabba. Last day tomorrow. Forecast seems to be for wall to wall sunshine.

Just back from a few days on the immaculately groomed (and often quite steep) pistes of Kronplatz.
Pistes (as they say) soften in the afternoon sun, but everything open and only the very occasional brown patch.
No doubt they will spark up the cannon(s) when it gets colder next week.
Nice area, nice people

Been rather too warm over the last few days and as a result snow conditions on piste in the afternoon very heavy and damp.
Never been lower than freezing here in San Cassiano for nearly 3 days now, but morning pistes after overnight grooming are a pleasure.
Largely it has been a choice of go high for less heavy snow, but by doing so lose all visibility, or stay below clouds and make best use of morning.
Still, by no means a disaster - the excellent snow depths this season mean there is no shortage of skiing.
We spent the day in Cinque Torri today and Lagazuoi - little viz, but that also meant very few people; quite a lot of snow falling over there and good on piste conditions. Nice late lunch at Scotoni's as well with no waiting.
Off home on Sunday.

Now in San Cassiano. Skied Plose-Brixen yesterday, nice little ski area, warm and cloudy, snowing at the top, 2500m, rain at the bottom, 1000m. All pistes in good condition, but heavy lower down. Today been out at Kronplatz, weather brighter with some sun, but only very top freezing. All pistes open, but slushy lower down.
Quite bright and sunny now in San Cassiano, hope for good things tommorrow.

Snow overnight Sat into Sun down to village level in San Cassiano which is good news - a few cm. More further up I suspect, certainly on our way out this morning over Passo Falzarego it looked like there had been quite a bit there. So looking up for improving piste conditions as it gets colder into the week, with plenty of snow around. Cortina did not look so healthy as we came through it, at town level. Probably fine higher up there as well though.

Good day out round to Arraba, Canazei, bus to Alba, up Ciampac, then skied over to Pozza di Fassa, and all the way back. Pistes generally good, but some softening this afternoon, comedy slush moguls in few places. Mainly sunny, but has now clouded over and it looks likes it is going to snow.

Well it has been cloudy and snowing most of the day, but not enough for any accumulation. Still quite mild, pistes soft low down, but really nice higher up. Everything open, skied La Villa, Corvara, Selva, St Christina and back today. Cloud has now broken and blue sky here in San Cassiano.

Experiencing very variable weather the past few days but little wind and everything running with good snow conditions around ValGardena-S.Ronda. Some new snow every day - almost, dry over 2000m, best to be out 08.29 sharp...! But warm lower down. Stayed in nice little spa hotel Touring in St.Christina, nice starting point and 2 min walk + a short ski slide down to Monte Pana antiquated 2seater but nice start of the day lifting to m.Seura 2137m via Tramans to Sella circuit in no time and no ski bus necessary. Really surprised that it was possible to start this way in the morning, going down to Dantercepies lift and Colfosco to Armentarola and bus to Lagazuoi in a couple of hours. Plenty time for 2 rides on Lagazuoi and gazing over a capuccino, 5 Torri circuit (highly recommended for all gazers!), Hidden valley, lunch before the horses took us back. No stress in riding back via Biok and the tedious 4 (5?) lifts back to Dantercepies with still an hour left before closing time (17.00 is a record in the alps?), used on Ciampinoi and finally the Sasslong black to St.Christina. The GPS said 98km that day, lengthy lunch and bus included. But we were impressed by the effectiveness of the transport lifts - high season now, but no queues anywhere thanks probably to the shifting weather. But a very nice oval weekend anyway, good sun on Monday for example. No reason to believe snow will be a problem for easter

Yet another cloudy day, some snow but not enough for ant accumulations. Went to Lagazuoi, down to Cinque Torri, bus to the Cortina Tofana area. Skied there, dense cloud high up, but good snow, low down pretty soft, and not very deep. Back to Cinque Torri, snow here really nice, skied down get the cablecar back up to Lagazuoi and skied the Hidden Valley, again in very good condition. Stopped at Scotonis for a late lunch, then the horse tow back to Armentarola and ski back to San Cassiano. Still quite mild, but snowing lightly.

We went to Lagazuoi yesterday too. Truly amazing.
Lots of snow overnight here in Corvara and just waiting for the lifts to open.

Pumped to go, sounds like conditions are nice and soft.
Somebody, best 5 runs/lifts in the Alta Badia area for an intermediate in these conditions? Is it appropriate to ask on this thread?
Thanks

Completely different day today. Decent fall of snow overnight, and minus 6 at 8.30am. Went off towards Arabba, picking off pistes we haven't skied before, and some easily accessible off piste. Got as far as Passo Pordoi, and back via Corvara. Off piste varied from lovely thigh deep powder to wind scoured choss! Pistes similarly, mainly good, but some wind scoured ice. Stayed cold all day and quite windy, but mainly sunny.

For different reasons, I really like all of the following
Going one way
the red down to la villa (17)
the blue/red down from santa croce (32 to 31)
the red into corvara from col alt (4)
Red 50 and 46 down into Colfosco
Going the other
the blue from the top of Cherz down to the bottom of lift 25
Red down into Arrabba from the top of Bec de roses (run 27)
Black 5 into Arabba on the marmolada side
the red under lift 107 in the belvedere sector (the other side of Arabba from Alta Badia)
the black saslongia piste into St. Christina
But I wouldn't stress too much - there's lots of terrific runs in the Dolomites, find the ones you like and do them more than once, or alternatively never ski the same run twice - the choice is yours..

Fine and sunny today, but also very cold and quite windy. Pistes vary from good to hard, icy and wind scoured! Went over to Marmolada, surprisingly less windy there than Alta Badia, and pistes better condition as well. At 4.30pm temperature was minus six at the bottom here in San Cassiano, and with clear sky it looks like it will be very cold night.

Another fantastic day around the Sella Ronda, plus Monte Pana and Col Raiser. Weather perfect, sunny, cold, no wind, pistes firm and smooth but not icy today, everything perfect, shame we have to home tomorrow!

cj1994, All the runs down to the various villages are really nice, particularly the red from the Boe lift into Corvara and the reds into Selva. You must do Lagazoui - it's stunning. The Marmolada run would be my least favourite because it's quite a task queueing for the slow chair, the run down to the gondola and the gondola queues.
Another pretty run, a blue, is the one from Plan de Gralba. All the runs are long and windy and quite stunning.
