Poster: A snowHead
|
I have just booked a midweek flight in January to spend a few days in St Anton. I need to sort out transfers for 2 of us. I was thinking whether getting the train was a viable option. Does anyone have any advice or experience of sourcing transfers from Innsbruck to St Anton.
Thanks
Bod.

Train's easy, direct route, around an hour, and cheap.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Ditto on clarky999, . Train is pretty easy and good value. Under €2 from memory to get the bus from airport to station - 10-15 mins. Train takes an hour. Private transfer is the best way to go but only really works if there is a group of say 5 or more. OEBB had a special deal if buying return ticket and lift pass for Arlberg this year. I used it and essentially meant you got a free taxi in St Anton to your accomodation. Can't remember what it was called but could be useful if you're not stayin in the centre of town

The bus stop at Innsbruck Station may be on the "wrong" side of the station necessitating a bit of a walk to the train. You may be better getting a taxi if you have loads of luggage.
Similarly at the St Anton end of the train journey you may want to take a taxi to your accommodation especially if you are not staying in the centre of St Anton.
This is the transfer company I used last winter. €55 each way per person door to door.

You'll need to Register first of course.

BOD, it's a slight pain getting from the airport to the station (which is in town). About 20 mins in bus which can get very crowded
I'd get a cab unless you're tight for cash

BOD, think there could be several but only one Hauptbanhof, which is the one you want. The bus (if you take it) takes you there and is the last stop from memory

There are a couple of train stations, you want the Hauptbahnhof (the main one). It's a couple of kilometres from the airport, 10/15 mins on the bus, which costs €1.90 per person and stops (literally) right outside the station. It's an easy journey, no need for a taxi.
Where are you staying in St Anton? The station there is central to the town, but behind the main street, over the road and river. 30 seconds walk from somewhere like Mark Warner's Rosanna. If you're at either end of the village, it could be a 10-15 minute walk, your accommodation might provide transport, or you could get a taxi.

Train is pretty easy, check times on oebb website, you could also give a couple of the St Anton taxi companies a quick email and maybe they have a pick up willing to share to reduce costs, as i recall a private taxi is 200-250.
