Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Regular boots on gripwalk bindings - Problem ?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi guys.

Recently I bought a pair of Elan's Element ski (https://www.elanskis.com/si-si/en_GB/cat/Products-9549/Highlights-10828/Element-10830/prod/element-green-light-shift-186952/).
I like it so far, but something caught my attention: Those binding are gripwalk compatible:

But my boots are not grip walk, so this is how my boot sits on top of it:

As you can see, just a very small part of the front of the boot actually supports my whole weight.
I skied in it for a few days and didn't feel anything weird, fits like any other binding.

Can this a problem ?

That binding is a rebadged Tyrolia Superliterail II which is accepts both an alpine or GripWalk sole. See https://www.tyrolia.com/en-GB/skibindings/superliterail/ where it states "Our 2018/19 SLR II bindings are fully GripWalk compatible and can be used with adult Alpine ski boots (ISO 5355) and GripWalk ski boots (within ISO 9523)".

So you're good to go!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Interesting... mine are Tyrolia Attack bindings that are GW compatible but I have regular alpine boots. Never noticed.
