Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi all, I'm new to the forum and have only been skiing once (Morzine in March and loved it), I'm looking to get away Christmas week, somewhere with easy access to Geneva, I'm not a party animal but do enjoy a few beers, don't mind sharing with someone similar in a group of mixed ages (I started late at 42). Any suggestions?

Hi NatNJ,
I'm not going out that week but do have a suggestion, I've used a catered chalet for the last 7 yrs in the Samoens valley (ski area Grand-Massif, a very good progressive terrain. really the next ski area over from morzine) very close to Geneva but not sure if I can post the contact details on here (is that ok in the rules?).
It's family owned and run by a very good couple and usually has a nice mix of guests there with good food and relaxed evenings and just so friendly.
I have no commercial links with them other than keep returning to ski there, please ask if you want the details.
Anyway, welcome to the forum and hope you find something that suits you.

Hi
I have posted earlier as solo skier.
looking for options going 22/23 dec. Im tied to these dates.
Is it possible you could give me more info on this?
Im a 51yr old male,no party animal but dont mind a few scoops.
If this is an all female set up?
No problem.
Thanks for any reply.

I know there are spaces in Morzine with piste pals (not sure how far out the chalet is, but Morzine was my first ski experience in March), and in La Plagne with singlesport.com, La Plagne seems to me to look a bit fragmented and is also a v.long transfer. Just checking out Samoens Valley, if you pm me the details that would be great. Thanks x

Hi
I have never skied at Morzine so thats interesting.
I have skied at La Plange/Les Arcs..great area ....big double decker ski lift connects the two, fantastic if there is plenty of snow.
Just had a look at pistepals site and mailed them.
Thanks.

Apologies for the delay, and I was unable to use PM so will put the details on here.
They are a personal recommendation as I'm only a satisfied guest of these with no commercial connection.
The first one is "skisamoens" and ending in dotcodotuk or "skigrandmassif" and ending in dotcom, the owner is Sarajane.
The journey from Geneva is closer than Morzine as the road trip passes through the Samoen valley on it's way to Morzine about 20minutes further on.
Another of the same feeling is "Chalet Juane" (yellow chalet) In Les-Houche on the edge of Chamonix, again not far from Geneva. The Chalet is run by Helen who again I've found to be a really good host and has some good mixed groups there and very good accommodation/food etc.
They both have online presence so you can judge for yourself.
Hope that gives you enough to go on but please ask me if not.
