OK< no doubt there'll be some abuse on this thread, but I have a reason for wanting a helmet with a visor, I had an incident a few years ago that left me with a metal plate and a number of screws in my head (some would argue a few of those screws are loose!), I have seen people with helmets with visors and I think they'd really be useful to me as I struggle to get sun glasses to sit "right" and also the metal bits get cold and my sweat has frozen making taking the glasses off painful.
Does anyone know of somewhere that I can get a helmet that comes with, or at least works with, a visor (ideally interchangeable as they seem to have a shorter lifespan than the helmet itself)
I have tried Ski Bartlett and Ellis Brigham, I've tried Google, I am hoping a fellow can help me out?
Thanks
Standee

No, because I have similar issues with them, if you can't help, just don't post.

Try google (other search engines are available)
Ski helmet with visor

I got a sweet protection helmet which has the option to buy a visor, also replaceable if needed.

Thanks for those, will have a good look into them, I guess it depends if you're bothered about hat you look like, or how comfrotable and safe you are, the latter is my priority.

I can help with a nick name if you wear the helmet with a visor - Maverick or Goose would be my choice and if you nip in front of someone in the lift Q you can shout "Yee ha, jester's dead".
Now THAT'S helpful.
You're welcome

Standee, I might also get shot down in flames in flat spin for this, but the helmets with visors are a fashion thing, if you want real protection go for a full face helmet with some goggles that sit over the full face helmet.

I thought that was helping - but by all means be a dick about free advice you asked for.
Could paint some liquid latex round the foam of the goggles to prevent the sticking bit, but should still be much softer on the face than sunglass rims. From what I can see most/all of the ski lids with visors will let in light from below, as they won't seal fully like a motorbike helmet (which will be too heavy).

I've got an Osbe - works well - you can get replacement visors easily - clear, low viz, dark and mirrored.
Fantastic field of vision - you look like a bit of a dork but you mostly can't see yourself.
Lots of people with glasses approach you and ask if it's good because they have trouble with otg goggles.

It seems weird having separate goggles, but it's kind of the way snow sports evolved I suppose. The fashion-police people are using larger goggles these days, and they are also finding that goggles are specifically engineered for helmets. So they're heading in an integrated direction, slowly but surely.
These guys ship the Bolle ones at a reasonable price:
http://www.optical-group.com/en/bolle/1050-casque-bolle-slide-visor-white.html
I was thinking they may work well for photography, where shoving your goggles out of the way is a nuisance. I wonder about the reflected light from below the visor, but there's one way to find out if that's an issue or not. There's a shortage of real-user reviews of these things so it's hard to know if they'll work, but they would seem to be a neater solution.
The Ruroc helmets have had mixed reviews, but are trying to solve a completely different issue anyway.

Well I suppose there was a need to keep snow (and other elements) out of the eyes first. Helmets seem to have been an afterthought - and it seems that is the case with most sports that use them inc. motorcycling.
