Has anyone here taken the mogul course in chill factor? How did you rate it? Was thinking of going up this month if its worth it?
Thanks

I am curious (given the dimensions of a fridge) just how effective such lessons can be?

under a new name, I did a few hours mogul course at Xscape, was very good, plenty of drills and practise that can be done in a fridge, even better when they put the moguls in.

kitenski, Fair enough, no worries, I was just curious.
I found Braehead, f'r instance, a little short to do anything much at all.

kitenski, Must be not dissimilar to doing jump turns with their rental boots on...

The bumps at chill get built by the snowsports manager who is ex-british bumps team. So they are really good. The lines get progressively easier as you come out from the lift. So there is a more difficult rut line, a slightly easier rut and then 'waves' towards the middle of the slope. They also put in a couple of jumps for people to practice on.
They've also recently run english snowsports moguls coaches courses there which quite a number of the instructing staff attended so you should get some decent coaching.

I had a thoroughly good time at the session I went to, and felt like I got a lot out of it. The coaching was good and the bumps are pretty BIG. Because of the relatively shallow gradient you can focus on your technique without worrying too much about careering to your death. Saying that, the bumps are pretty BIG!
Does anyone know if they're running any more mogul weekends this year?

The next time the bumps will be in will be 14/15/16 November. Through the winter season they will be put in mid-week owing to how busy the weekends are. Come the off-season I expect them to go back to weekend slots.

skir67, do you have to be on a course to use the bumps, or can you just crack on?

The sessions for lessons only people on lessons are meant to use the bumps, but tbh I've never seen this enforced and in reality it doesn't really matter as there are relatively few people using them in total anyway.

Can anyone give us an idea of the difference between the 'Intro To' and 'Advanced' sessions? The website doesn't seem that helpful...
My wife and I quite fancy having a go at this, but I don't remember ever being taught how to ski moguls before and it's very much a case of picking our way down when we do give them a go. We can cope with most black runs and probably have about 20 weeks skiing each, albeit at a week a year at most.

When I went a couple of months ago, they did a test run at the start of the session and then split the groups accordingly, so everyone ended up at the appropriate level. Might be worth giving them a call and checking though.

We did the advanced course yesterday - grand total of 3 of us in the group and we were all pretty equally rubbish to start with so that was perfect! Started out with some drills, then drills over the 'waved' section of the slope before starting on the actual bumps.
Everyone made lots of progress in the 2 hours and we really enjoyed it

That's good, we were there yesterday but I couldn't time our visit to do the course. I'm trying to find out when the next session is planned but not heard back from them yet.
