Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Which resort in Austria?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
So I'm off to do my first season this year and all I know so far is that it is going to be in Austria, but my resort is still to be decided and we are asked what resorts we would like.

I would prefer a slightly quieter resort in terms of night life. as I'm not really a huge drinker and prefer a sociable drink and bed , rather than an up til 4am escapade.

I have been holidaying to Niederau serveral times and love it there, but think that might be a bit limited skiing wise given I'm going to be there for 5 months.

Any recommendations?

Alpbach is good. Pretty Village, quite quiet but a couple livelyish spots and now lift linked with wildsconau so niederau also on same pass

What resorts do the company that you're going to be working for have staff in and what job are you going to be doing? It is possible to to have a social drink and bed in the resorts with plenty of night life. Do you want a resort where there are others working with you/for other companies, or would you be happy in a smaller resort where you might be about the only British person there?

The company is in most of the Austrian resorts as I am going to be working as a rep for one of the major TO's

First season though - so won't be in a sole rep resort. It's not that I don't want to experience any night life - of course I do - but would prefer to work in a resort which is probably a bit more family based, rather than a "lads skiing trip" kinda resort lol.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

St Anton or Ischgl! Just because the apres is there, doesn't mean you have to indulge. You're there for the skiing and those are arguably two of the best resorts.

IMO of course.

Galtur for Ishcgl skiing but without the partying? Lech would be amazing.

It's not so much a concern of whether I can resist - more a case of, Places known for their apres are more likely to attract younger audiences and much larger groups - which I'm assuming (possibly wrongly) ... is going to lead to a rep spending a lot of time filling in accident forms and trying to rebuild relationships with locals.

I love skiing - I love the atmosphere - I love meeting new people .... I even like a good night out every now and then - just feel I would be better suited to a resort with more of a family atmosphere.

Fair enough!

How about somewhere like Westendorf then?

Westendorf looks brilliant - also just so happens to be one of the resorts a rep isn't permanently based in.

Which resorts would you say are best know for their apres?

St Anton , Ischgl , saalback, soll

Useful to look at what resorts there are, but don't get too set on wanting to go to a particular resort as it may not happen, It's your first season, you're gonna have a blast wherever you go.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Absolutely - Yea , doubt there will be that much choice (especially with it being my first season)

I believe we do sit down with the area manager though and we get the chance to give a preference.

You are right though, wherever I end up - I will be sure to make the most of it and have a great time!
