Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Watched a prog on channel 5 tonight called High Adventure about a search on Mont Blanc's glaciers for underground(ice) lakes. It was a bit light on details but had some good video of the glaciers.
Interesting to see where they (can't remember who it was) had tunnelled under the glacier and had a measuring wheel trundling along the underside of the glacier. Time lapse photography of this was amazing - moves 2ft per day apparently.
As for the nutters with scuba gear who dived down into the water sink holes......bet their insurance premiums are sky high!!!

Trouble is they're shrinking considerably faster than they're moving downhill under the force of gravity!
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Did you hear about the British servicemen stuck in the caves in Mexico.

The support crew were in touch with them by satalite telephone but as the had no permission to pothole there, they didn't tell anyone for 5 days. Then when the local rescue squad turned up, they were told their help wasn't needed because they had divers coming from the uk to get them out.
Idiots
how much is that going to cost us.

That was a pretty amazing programme. Shame they poured red die into that lovely clear water...
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Never purchase a Cham ski pass (covering the Chamonix valley) before but it apparently allows the purchaser to use the train to visit the Glacier in question.
I went there once in summer. The glacier has a tunnel for visitors to get into the inside. One can see several entrances further downhill indicating the glacier has been moving year by year relative to the tourist centre there. Do think it goes as fast as 2ft average per day though.
