This morning's webcams make great viewing - it's nice and white as low as Chamonix (see Chamonix snow report forum for pics).
Hoorah!!

After three days of driving rain down here at 300m, our Pyrenean view cleared this morning and has gone from brown to white.
Time to tuck the motorbike away

Freezing level is back to 2500 meters by Friday. So probably too early to put away your motorbike:)

Didn't like to mention that!!
In reality the bikes stay active all year, we just go north instead. Although Mr Stella's bike is currently in bits when he should be servicing the skis.

I went up to "Le Semnoz" near Annecy today in the hope of some sledging with the small one.
Knee deep powder, thigh deep drifts, must have been well below -5, totally silly weather for October. It was like a scene from The Thing. We spent about ten minutes up there and bailed out.
The road was absolutely treacherous up and down, even locals were just impotently wheel spinning in the middle of the carriageway with their hazard lights on.
Not me though. I'm one of the only people with Winter tyres on. Due to not being arsed to take them off all summer. So I just trundled past, laughing.

You know it makes sense.

Snow at Lake Geneva level today, although it had gone by lunchtime. The mountains are looking nice and white though....but it should be milder by the end of the week.

Woke to 10cm of snow in the garden this morning! We were out sledging with the kids here in my village, south of Munich.
It won't last, but at least it puts down a base in the mountains. Like Mr Piehole I was feeling smug about not having changed the tyres all summer!
