Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi All.

I'm looking for a reasonably sturdy bag for my skis, poles and boots to go in. Flying Ryanair so not risking boots in hand luggage again.

Can you suggest one or two.

cheers

Skis and boots? That's an odd shaped bag...

How did Ryanair find out about boots in hand luggage?

under a new name, plenty of them about. I had one but sold it on as I didn't get on with it- skis too short to fill the bag so the boot section flopped around.

They didn't...

Nor did Edinburgh Airport bother when the chap said what is in there? I said boots.... you dont want to know Happy. Although they did query it in TORP airport (oslo, but nowhere near oslo) Happy.

I've just heard that Ryanair are now allowing skis, boots and poles (well clarified that is okay as one item) but are refusing boots as hand luggage.

In any case, the sip on my free bag (came with skis) has broken and I thought a wheelie bag would be good. Anything about 3 to 4 kg is fine.

Any of the wheeled bags will take skis, boots and poles.

davkt, they don't all have boot pockets though, which is what the OP might be looking for.

On mine the boots end up in the main bit as the boot pockets won't cope even when my 8 year old needs bigger boots!

Just had a brain storm.

My other hobby/sport is Carp Fishing.

I use a chub protection rod holdall which is designed to take 3 rods with big pit reels on, the rods are 12 foot rods broken down into two 6 foot pieces. bag is designed to protect carbon rods and expensive reels.

The bag i have put in the link will easily take a pair of skis with bindings and poles, and you might squeeze a pair of boots in

My 178cm skis fit with poles, havent bunged in the boots.

Just an option, plus you can smugly say at check in, "Nope going to Tignes to carp fish in Le Lac" Very Happy Very Happy
