I am struggling to work out how the overall league score is calculated - I can't get to 42.45 - can anybody explain?
Within the table - 'My top 10 picks league - Snow head Hopefuls' - no 4 Master Blaster links to Briand6868
and blank no 9 links to Briand where there are the first 4 race pick scores which actually equates to a score of 20.80
So it looks as though Briand(6868) is in the league twice and it would increase our league score if the remaining race entries could be duplicated - I think !!
The only actual zero score is no 10 which links to RTM77
RTM77 - are you there - if you do not want to make any selections can you PM your password so that we can select on your behalf
I may have got that completely around my neck

Your score is average of your 5 best scores.
I assumed the League score is the average of all members' scores, but I've not added anything up to see if this is true.
Quite why they do averages and not totals I have no idea.
edit: I think I have worked out 9 of the 10 members scores. Fattes13 has no country, so I can't determine the score. If it is about 43.25? then the league score seems to be the total divided by 9. I think. If so, it;s just that dodgy low score of 26 we need to exclude.
edit to the edit: I think i found all scores, total divided by 9 is 42.44444 which is pretty close to the current 42.5, and if my theory is right and we ditch the 2 scores we don't want then the league score is 44.5 (ie 16th overall). But then I could be talking rubbish.

Samerberg Sue, Hi Sue, I'm back from a weeks training so need to take a look at my picks for upcoming races, Im going to try and put the same picks in for briand as I do for briand6868 and see if that works for the team, I've had no reply from the Nymans despite several mails. Watched bits of the womens from Zagreb - how did anybody even get close to a good score in that one !!!

andy I came to the same figures as you with our total score, discarding the 2 low ones, at 44.50
An early post on this thread said we need a minimum of 8 in the team, so perhaps the scores are based on the best 8, although that doesn't account for the diffrence between our table score of 42.50 and the 44.50 above.
If that is the case then the low scores of Briand and RTM77 are not impacting on the team total score.
(I found Fattes13 details and calculated the best 5 scores at 214 - an average of 42.80)

hmmm - picking team for Wengen DH but it's in the system as Super Combined. This means many of my team are ranked well out side top 30, and 1 or 2 of my shortlist aren't even in the list to be picked.

She is under tremendous pressure and currently not performing to expectation. I think this is like Vonn's tactical withdrawal, but maybe not for so long.  She has to get some better results as there are some youngsters from the B team knocking on the door. With the World Championships coming up at home, she needs good results not DNFs or high teens or whatever. Only 4 places per nation isn't it, plus the defending champion. Can be really really tough in the Austrian Ladies team, a lot of really good talent does not make it because of the pressure.

Samerberg Sue, Yes - pressure on all the Austrian racers outside of Fenninger and Hirscher is huge, only 4 per team and so many in the running, for lots of them this will be their last World Champs on home snow so they are all trying to impress the selectors. 1 or 2 bad races and you start to slip out of the limelight, 1 bad season and your gone, i know 1 guy who is regularly within 4/5 secs of the winner of the speed events and doesn't even warrant a place on the squad this season let alone a start number.

Wow - Snowhead Hopefuls up to 8th overall
I had a couple of good scores - 6/10, 1 matched and one outside top 30 in the Mens Giant Slalom for 40.75 and 8/10 and 2 matched in the Womens Super G for 52 points - moved me up over 120 places overall over the weekend....
but the rest of you must have had some even better scores to take the overall score to 49.194

wow - in to top 200 over all now. up to 6th in germany.and the adelboden/stanton scores for me were only reasonably good (one score was my 2nd best though)

Wow, another good w/e for SH. did you notice only 1sec seperated first 15 or so in the DH ? . I've managed to move back up two places to 13th GBR and 273 o/a with two 5/10s, one 6/10 and one 7/10.

I am now even more confused by the scoring !
I can't fathom how we have increased the overall score from 42.50 last week to over 49 this week based on this weekends scores averaging out - but hey lets just glow in the glory of 8th place overall for now

codyaitch, I think they do not average your points in total but only a certain number, maybe the top X ones. briand6868 seems to understand the scoring better than I do!
Let's just be happy that we have all moved up! It happened the last time around this year, and by the beginning of February I was leading in Germany and stayed at the top despite some horrendous bloopers of selections until the end of the season. I think a lot of people are active in the pre-Christmas period, then the break comes and they don't remember to restart selecting. Or they press the "keep my selections for the whole season" button not realising that half to 2/3s of their selections are out injured or sick!

There's a guide to scoring - see link at the bottom right (I think), but I don't think it explains league scoring (very well). AFAICT it's top 5 scores that count.
I do wonder how many people basically give up half way. I used the "keep my selections for the remainder of the season" button so I have picks for the times I'm away and can't spend the time picking. If you get a bad score, no big deal, it just doesn't count (unless other people around you in the tables pick up a good score).

Evening all - consider Bernadette Schild as an outsider for Flachau Sl tomorrow, starting to come into really good form according to an informed source, well outside the top 30 so think bonus points, ladies sl is a difficult one at the moment with lots of "unknowns" popping up.

thought I'd binned Vonn from all races this season but she seems to have reappeared in some of my picks, including the one the other day. still can't complain too much - it was my 2nd best score of the season.

andy, Vonn is always a safe bet but not in technical races any more. If you look at her FIS record it is a long time since she put together a reliable and good sequence in slalom although in GS she is maybe worth a punt. I have her in the mix for the speed events, but did anyone else see her over the weekend? I thought she looked uncharacteristically tense during both her runs. Be interesting to see how she performs this weekend on the Tofana.
This season is throwing up some really interesting outsiders in the top 10. Look at the Downhill in St. Anton on Saturday, so of the names there do not trip off the lips, including the winner!

kooky, Agreed, bib 67 will be tricky for her but Dave Ryding did really well from a high start so you never know, wish I was there but I'll get my chance with "the oldies" in Goetschen 2/3 February. Hope that boy of yours is keeping you busy this season, Joe has taken a break this year as he's finding the change up to secondary school quite difficult, 2 hrs homework etc.

briand6868, yep, he´s keeping me busy alright, broke his hand at beginning of Dec and has since re broken it , it´s still in plaster 7 weeks later but at least he´s back racing.

Will that effect the team average for the better then? I didn't do that before, as i presumed the poor scores that are likely to occur, will be worse than not doing anything. My scores when playing before were not too bad.

Your individual score is calculated by averaging your 5 best scores - your lowest being 37.00
Any score over 37.00 therefore improves your score, anything less is ignored
So by selecting 'future races' teams you might strike lucky and score more than 37.00
We are still struggling to work out the team score calculation but believe it works in a similar way
