Dear Snowboarders,
I'm hoping to provide a French vocabulary guide for a list of various mountain-sports related words and phrases.
The skiing ones are all pretty obvious but not having snowboarded, I wondered if there was any specific terms that might be useful to know?
Any suggestions much appreciated.

Thank you for these - most amusing! 'Mal au cul' is a useful addition to my general French knowledge!
The 'puis je obtenir un remorquage' would be quite handy. Until I checked Google translate, I thought it was something to do with needing to remortgage!
Feel free to suggest phrases in English. I think snowboarders like to avoid long gentle slopes (hence the remorquage thing) and drag lifts so maybe I need something relating to that.

Many thanks for these. Lots of mentions of 'putain' which Google translate tells me means 'whore'.
Is snowboarding a popular pastime among French prostitutes?
Couple more terms I've read about. 'Goofy' (right foot first, I think) - anyone know the French?
Also, I've read that 'bonk' is when you crash your snowboard into a tree? Is this true, and is there a French equivalent?
Bit worried I might have been reading a spoof snowboarding-speak site!

musher, well if you leave out "putain de" the rest is not impolite, and highly relevant!Neil Neige, "putain" is a general-purpose swear-word. Are you sure you're cut out for this task?

Putain is a bad word, but not a very bad one. I think it translates literally as 'whore', but it's used a bit like an American saying 'sonofabitch' with about the same level of sweariness. People say it absolutely all the time. Especially down South.

Neil Neige, if you don't understand/have never heard of the relevant terms in your own language, you may find there are pitfalls in trying to translate them into another one.

Neil Neige, the French use the same (English) words for "regular" (left-foot forward) and "goofy" (right-foot forward).
"Bonk" doesn't mean crashing - it's the deliberate act of tapping some object with your board, usually in mid-air.
The more general term would be jib/jibbing which is riding your board on something which is not snow - originally urban handrails, but now all sorts of purpose-built rails and boxes, plus trees, rocks, snowmakers, prone skiers, small children, etc....
Again, the French just say "le jibbing".
In the terrain park a jump is a "tremplin" or "saut" and some other kind of obstacle (jib) is a "module". A halfpipe is a halfpipe... par contre, ceci n'est pas un pipe...

Kruisler, merci! I had put "ce putain..." then edited it on the basis that putain is (presumably?) feminine, couldn't decide whether it was a noun or an adjective in that context.... then gave up!!
