Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Whistler Bobsleigh track insurance query

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi

I am visiting Whistler in February and am looking to do the Bobsleigh run at the sliding centre. Has anyone done this before if so did you get insurance to cover the run. I have contacted the sliding centre and they replied stating that it comes under amusement rides in the BC health and safety laws. I intend to get cover for this one off event but wondered whether anyone knew of an insurance company to recommend that would cover this one-off ride.

Regards

Mark

Having been with someone who had issues after La Plagne, it might be a good idea.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I did the ride this christmas, but didn't bother with insurance. You have to sign the usual waivers prior to riding.... if you're nervous/risk averse, then suggest you get covered - I'm sure dog-tag will cover you, but bobsleigh is probably a category 4 (i.e. 'risky') activity - although I don't think there's enough data on people doing this as a one-off activity, compared to e.g. regular sportspeople doing it. Suspect it would result in at least a doubling of the premium....

as an aside, it was a lot of fun.... and I swore, a lot, especially on the last bend. 125kph and 4G pulled!

Thanks for the response.

I managed to get cover as part of purchasing an annual policy with Insure and Go which gave Bobsleigh as part of the cover.
