Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

We still stick with the blue slopes in Lofer in Austria. However, this year we would like to head to another resort within 20 miles of Lofer that has plenty blue slopes so looking for suggestions.

Not sure how far Mari Alm is from Lofer but plenty blues and really wide cruisy reds to progress to. Pretty village and linked to other areas too. No good if you want really wild apres but some decent bars and restaurants which are cheaper than we had expected. Very Happy

Drive 20 mins to Saalfelden:

Turn left at the roundabout for Maria Alm (as above)
or turn right for Leogang - there's an excellent long blue run fom the top of Atsitz to the mid-station, and plenty of other great runs up there too

Maria Alm and Leogang would be good. Another possibility would be the Steinplatte (reached from Waidring).

And with the new Schwarzeck lift at Lofer you'll have whole new area to discover there too Very Happy

ORF (Austrian Television) has a video clip of the new Schwarzeck lift (commentary in German). There is also a text report here. Looks like another attractive run.

In Lofer they have invested ca. €17.5 million in new lifts in the last two years.
