Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

PG, "Cool" is just another word to allow one group to denegrate another. "Cool" allows one group to say "we are superior". I recently went on a ski trip with a group that included a guy with an ancient outfit that included a pair of those flaired tight racing trousers (remember them?). I regarded him with disdain - you see, we are all vicitms of this culture. Well, I was silenced when he started skiing. He was superb. I'm quite good. Next to him I was rubbish. So much for my "cool" outfit! Skullie

Jonpim, Absolutely - the title of the thread was taken directly from the article itself, and was intended to be slightly ironic along with my reference to the 'American way'....
...and good advice of yours ... never mock people in tight racing trousers - they invariably bought them when they were using them for their original purpose!

I would say, just as a general rule, if you see someone skiing on really old, out of date equipment, it is because they skied perfectly well on it twenty years ago, and have continued to ski perfectly well on it up till the present day.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

The article is really about skiing as a business.

The 'cool' analysis is just part of an attempt to predict the future for these particular Colrado resorts.

Basically they are identifying markets and seeking ways to maximise their profits.

Cash is involved and they need to look at things from every angle.
