Breaking my Snowheads cherry as I've got a dilema.
Due to the infinate wisdom of Gordon Brown (i.e. closing a tax loop hole he introduced himself two years ago!!) I've had to declare a divi earlier than I had planned.
My original thought was to get new windows for my house. Although they're already double glazed they have wooden frames and I have been unable to find a 'paint by numbers' window kit at B & Q/Homebase.
However, doing the 4 day Bank Holiday Blast with our friends over at the Ski Club and my Salamon X-Free's are horribly out of date and a bit battered.
Tried the Pilot Crossmax in Morzine earlier this year but also fancy the K2 XP's which have had some good write up's.
So whats it to be: New Window's or new Ski's.
Not that anyone's likley to be biased on this forum!!

Will someone give this dithering idiot a slap! I mean like! Strapping one of Everest's plastic abortions to your feet is not gonna give you a lot of cred anywhere, Mind you, I've a Forum board that probably handles worse!

I'm sure there's a double-glazing forum somewhere, perhaps they could help.

i think you need therapy with the dividend. No contest-skis every time. Anyway the price of double glazing , you can get loads of skis for that.

I've just replaced my windows with skis. It's made the place a lot darker, but my house does have the edge on others in the neighbourhood.

Buy the skis not the windows. Bill Gates is rich enough already!

Got the ski's and they came with a free anger management course which I'm kindly donating to Masque.

Preston Pete, Neither!
You got double glazed windows. Why change them? Paint them in the summer. It will give you something to do waiting for all that horrible warm weather to go away and next ski season to arrive.
No point in buying skis: hire them. Then no airport hassles, you can try out the latest gear each year and you can change your skis with the conditions: off-piste fat-boys for powder days, on-piste "carvers" when the off-piste is crap.
So now you got this lovely wad of cash - go on another ski trip: the snow is fantastic just now. Book now!

Jonpim. Got the Ski's, I bought some about 6 years ago, used them about 8 times but I bought at, my then, current level of skiing which didn't leave any room for me to grow into a more 'advanced' ski.
Hired over the past three years and I've enjoyed trying different styles, free riders, cross ski's, 10/80's but I can glady swap the airport hassle for the ski hire shop bedlam on day one and on the last day. I'll still hire blades for the odd day or two just for a bit of fun.
As for the ski trip, 4 weeks to go, did a week in Morzine in Feb, goint to Tignes next week and after that who knows.
As for the windows......sod em!! Thinking back the dilema was non-existant!!

Preston Pete, yes, the hire-shop-scrum can be a real downer on the Sunday morning. So try and get there Saturday morning instead. The secret is dump the plane and take the train (overnight). And on return you are handing the skis back Saturday evening (not Friday): no queues or hassle, and 2 extra days skiing.
Good to hear you have seen the light and put skiing before windows.

I still can't make up my mind whether I want to buy skis or go on hiring. At least my windows are OK!

I'm considering hiring windows. I reckon I only really need them 6 months a year and if I hire then they'll always be clean and not need repairing/repainting. I've bought in the past but they always fall behind the times, my current ones aren't even K glass!!!

Preston Pete, ANGER MANAGEMENT!!!! Why, you odorous clump of simian doo doo – I’ll have you know my anger is perfectly managed and maintained in high order – so yah boo sucks!
May I suggest: http://www.ifyouski.co.uk/community/Vote/?template=vote&ObjectID=299036
for the opportunity to join in that management.
Just for the record, I’ve a few hair-triggers that are not snowsport related and a number of environmental ones that are . . .
. . . that and the incompetent deflowering of virgin powder!
Oh . . . anyone accessing the above link will require a strong stomach, a sharp mind and the patience to understand its raison d'etre.
