Right people, batten down the hatches and lock up your sons, I'm now in Cham and going for my first ski of the season tomorrow
Have been round to Sole to get some new footbeds, have stocked up the closet-apartment, am rearing to go. Now, if only it would stop raining...

Oh lordy, this is going to bug me now. The only person that springs to mind, so far, is Cynic. If so, he's a Very Naughty Boy, but I guess we knew that.

You know it makes sense.

Nope - you need to spend more time of the Equipment section. He's playing it pretty straight these days - not much chat about FISH

Haven't done all that much skiing
Combination of rain, waiting for a delivery from the UK, friends visiting from Paris (skiing blues with them, getting one of them into and to/from lessons and dealing with the other one's skiing injury and the fallout from that injury) and, finally, compensating for painful nerve damage in my foot has meant a total of about 8 hours of actual skiing – all on piste.
Anyway, I've had skis on and have been up the mountain, so I am content. Here's a wee taste of the weather/pistes during the early part of the New Year week when my friends S. and J. were here:
First on-slope drink of the season:
S. looking very happy, pre-injury:
The queue at Le Tour – the worst I've ever seen it (but then I don't ski there too often):
Right, I'm heading back to Sole now. I think one more teeny adjustment to my ski boot (sorry, Sole boys!) should finally resolve my painful foot thing or at least bring it to a level that will be bearable for a whole day's skiing. Then a long, leisurely lunch at Elevation (my fave place in all of Chamonix) followed by an early night. Plan on first lift tomorrow so that I can get a solid day's skiing in for the first time this season
