Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Quote:
A few relatively short bursts of intense exercise, amounting to only a few minutes a week, can deliver many of the health and fitness benefits of hours of conventional exercise, according to new research, says Dr Michael Mosley.

I'd say not. Unless you were training to hold your breath!

If three minutes a week is enough to get me set up for my next MTB transalp then I'm gonna be surprised...

I'm trying to sign up for one of these HIT research programmes. I'll tell you how it goes if I get in. It's not 3 mins a week I can tell you that much! It's also not aimed at your waist line or marathon times. What they are measuring is your body's insulin handling capacities and your VO2 max changes over time. There is apparently a genetic profiling element as well which is partially what I am interested in. I don't think it has any direct relevance for skiing but it would certainly help your recovery times.

Since I think that VO2 max change is the best indicator of fitness improvements, I think the whole issue is very interesting.

It is a repeat, they thought 9 minutes extreme "spinning" once a week was equal to other regimes and proved it on presenter's metabolic results. BUT you miss the placebo of going to the gym, showing off to the masses, posing and having a shower after in your favourite environ; if you pay nothing and it appears so easy pschologically you will not keep it up.
