Happy to start one for Tignes and Val d'Isere this season if there's not one going by the time I'm skiing on Saturday.
Chasseur, yes, that's taken from the top cablecar station at 3500ish metres.

Philbo, Are you sure these were taken today....the Tignes Webcam although showing good cover is not as good as these photos.

That final one looks pretty improbable.

Mr Piehole, Not sure what you mean by improbable, it is the DH run and pretty much matches the picture posted earlier today by Rob@Rar.
Scot_Ski, Yes, Today. sent to me by Marilyn at the Securitie De Pistes office.

The run, fair enough. The surrounding mountains look pretty Wint'ry for September though!

Philbo, They might have been sent today , but I doubt they were taken today....http://www.tignes.co.uk/webcam.htm#GrandMotte and click on historique and select the 1st of October in the calender , defintely less snow than in the photos , my son saw these photos and thought it must have snowed , he's checking every day as he heads out in a couple of weeks for two weeks training.
Maybe a bit of marketing going on from Marilyn as the Glacier reopens.

Let me rephrase it then. It looks like an outright marketing lie.

You know it makes sense.

We went in late October 2 years ago and it snowed a lot right down to le brev we needed chains to get to le boisses. It had all gone in a few days its too early. Glacier is a different matter.

+1, way too much snow lower down compared to what the webcams are showing!

Hmmm. If the final one is taken at, say, 3500 ish where the summit of the cable car is - then what you can see in the distance is easily down to about 2500.
Now take a look at the Val Claret webcam that looks up Double M past the superpipe, or the Val Thorens livecam at 2300m.
There's absolutely nothing below about 3000.

Mr Piehole, I was looking more at the depth of snow on the higher pictures. There isn't very much, it is just a few inches and there are still lots of rocks showing.

The final one looks like its looking down from the top towards the valley below/behind the laisse chair. You can get a similar view from the webcam near the top of the funicular. That was the shot I was going to post - it's waaaaay more brown than the shot above.

Well given that the village was covered in snow last Thursday (all bar the roads) - I hope it was Thursday but the Alpaka's finest red does have an effect on the memory - then it it is highly probable that that photo is pukka

cheers tiffin, getting there, but previously it was possible to get a single static pic (as per the old links I posted above), not the huge static panorama.
