Starting to look a little whiter! They've had a good 30 cms up on the Grande Motte glacier now.
The photos here were taken late afternoon ....

Frosty the Snowman, that's me filming having made huge progress on last season when heavy breathing sound effects plus camera shake in time with my heartbeat were standard extras ... kuwait_ian, yes once or twice a day when conditions allow is the plan, same as last year.

Martin Nicholas, Afraid it's mostly melted down at 1600 now since the first pic was taken - see the latest images.
This is the new simplified page link for the four different webcams - http://mysnowsports.com/cam
So if anyone wants to link to the page as a whole that's fine, or to any of the individual cams - there'll be one image renewed daily of the Upper Tarentaise, one of Bellecôte, one of Arc 1800 and one of the Cachette at 1600.

PG, not sure, that's quite a bit lower than our building. I think that there are some resort services buildings halfway up the road between Les Lauzières apartment block and our development at Alpage du Chantel - I think the crane might be in that general area. I'm not aware of any building due to take place where that crane is (the only new stuff I've heard about is Intrawest acquiring a small plot of land above our development).

rob@rar.org.uk, I was just intrigued by the rounded shapes, couldn't make out what they were.
Intrawest, above your development? Might not be good news view-wise, or is it sufficiently far away?

The crane is being used to build what I beleive is the new concert hall. Was at my place in the summer and can see it being built from the balcony, beleive it should be finished for the winter season. It is situated where the local council buildings are just off the road past the entrance to the bus drop off place in 1800.

chriscole, interesting... here is a pic (dreadful quality, am using maximum digital zoom from a good few kms away)
A concert hall, you reckon?

chriscole, was there a temporary hall there last year? I remeber looking down on something which looked like it might have been a sports/concert hall.
PG, it's not in our line of sight, and if I'm guessing correctly will be sufficiently far away to have no negative impact at all. I believe it is on/near the tennis courts alongside the Carreley nursery piste. If anything I'm pleased because (a) it will add a restaurant or two very close to my building, and (b) will probably hasten the construction of the pedestrian-friendly lift which is proposed from 1800-centre up to our part of the resort.

It's been very warm for a while now, snowline rapidly retreating on the north-facing slopes I can see. Not a flake in view above 1600 - the peaks go up to 2100 behind the Cachette slope. The rocky slopes behind 1800 won't be very white for much longer. At least there's still Bellecôte to look at in the meantime!

Always good to see the first snow cannon tests of the season, up on the Cachette! Don't mistake the white spray for snow though... it's definitely water droplets only!
