Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Wengen or Kitzbuhel - WC 2013

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hello,

My wife and I are planning to spend a weekend in either Wengen or Kitzbuhel during the respective WC weekends in January.

Which offers the most memorable experience in terms of atmosphere, race viewing possibilities, social life and skiing during the weekend?

Any accommodation suggestions for either appreciated.

Thanks

Can't compare the two, but I have been in Wengen for the races, atmosphere is amazing, especially Friday and Saturday nights, you will probably find more social life in Kitzbuhel though and with current exchange rates Switzerland will be expensive, plenty of viewing locations at Wengen, it is after all the longest of all the downhill courses, many people just find somewhere alongside the track, up near the start is good but below the Hundschopf at Wengernalp they usually put a stand with a Big TV to watch the whole race on, which is nice, also a good spot is the Haneggschuss as you can get a fair number of spectators there.

If we have anyone from the UK taking part they will almost certainly stay at the Hotel Alpenrose which is a very good 3 star hotel, but a little away from the village center

franga, Good advice from D G Orf there about Wengen. I was there this year on the Lauberhorn Race weekend, staying at the Falken Hotel (which is where the Italian skiers stay - each of the national ski teams tend to have a particular hotel which they stay at year after year). Some photos of the Swiss race fans on the Saturday evening in town:

I got a present of a trip to Wengen myself. Noticed a big hike in prices in recent weeks. Got a place in Gsteigewiler (outskirts of Interlaken). I supopose what Im saying is that you need to book soon.
