Is the quality of their equipment really that bad? How does it compare to say, Hemel?

Probably no diffrince as they both use Head and probably follow the same servicing advice,Always use my own at both so no idea really but I am pretty sure Hemel do a premium rental option for an extra fee

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

OutAndAboutDave, the lifts drive me mad, you can easily spend more time queuing than skiing, for sure. We try to go very early on a Sunday, if at all, and it's usually okay, but leave it until mid-morning and it's bedlam. I do agree with the comment on the smaller schildren missing the buttons and none of the staff seem to do anything about it!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Definitely pre-book, the staff only have access to a similar booking system you see online (which asks name, address blah blah) as a result even a tiny queue of people can take forever. Bring your own kit too unless you like knackered foam cored skis. The snow there is quite hard compared to other snow domes so you will want edges.

Sack the Juggler, Quite frankly don't bother. Skiing in a fridge is fine for 30mins or so but after that it's just a waste of money (actually it's a waste of money full stop). Sorry to be a naysayer but that's the way I feel about it. If you're coming to the north west there's so much other stuff to do to be bothered with an expensive hour or so in an ersatz mountain environment. |
Pretty much this. The times I have been are because it was the middle of summer and I hadn't skied for 5 months, the place would be empty and it was raining (not a surprise in the NW) and I couldn't think of anything else to do.

I think you're being a wee bit harsh tbh... I mean, obviously the quality of rental gear is not going to be amazing, especially the fit of the boots, but in my experience (and I go every few weeks with the Uni snowsports club), there are generally decent edges on the skis and with a few friends and some freestyle stuff to play on it is a fun time. Plus it's great for keeping the skills in check and working on things you're not so good with (i.e. the mogul sessions etc)
And at the end of the day, it's skiing. Where else are we going to ski regularly during the summer season? (Until I get to move somewhere with summer snow, hehe )

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Fattes13, Hemel has just spent £150,000 upgrading its rental equipment. Kit is pretty good.
